On October 7th, Takoma Park church (TPC), in Maryland, will host its first Homecoming Weekend for all former members and new friends. With roots that extend to 1904 when the congregation was first organized, the present church building was later erected in 1953. The church has been an integral part of Takoma Park’s community history, with its frequent evangelism efforts and continued collaboration in events like the community Sunday market, holding public concerts and assisting with annual parades.
“The Takoma Park church family looks forward to reuniting with former members and new visitors as we all reignite the spirit that helped build such an impact-driven, Christ-centered body,” said TPC Senior Pastor Henry Wright. “For over a hundred years the Takoma Park SDA Church has been a beacon of hope in the community and has been committed to the overall growth and health of the Takoma Park community since 1904. During this Homecoming Weekend, we will reflect and renew our commitment to service.”
Mark Finely will be the guest speaker for this celebration. The weekend will also include a historical tour that will cover the history of the church, the Takoma Park community and landmark locations. A mass choir concert will also be held and will be a collaboration of TPC members and community members.
