Focus
Our Special Needs Ministry focuses on ministering to people with disabilities as well as assisting them to grow and reach their potential. The following quote from the North American Division further defines our ministry: “The mission of Special Needs Ministries is built around the concept that all are gifted, needed and treasured. This ministry emphasizes the recognition of the value and dignity inherent in every person.”
Homes typically provide areas and facilities for sleeping, preparing food, eating and hygiene. Larger groups may live in a nursing home, children’s home, convent or any similar institution. A homestead also includes agricultural land and facilities for domesticated animals. Where more secure dwellings are not available, people may live in the informal and sometimes illegal shacks found in slums and shanty towns.
Mission
This ministry exists to facilitate inclusion and acceptance of people with special needs and their families within the church and the communities within the territory of the Potomac Conference Corporation of Seventh-day Adventists. This Special Needs Ministry coordinates and facilitates acceptance, support and inclusion for people who have special needs and for their caregivers. Our ministry encompasses ministry for and with those who are deaf, blind and have physical challenges.
