At the end of March, the Petersburg SDA Church (Va.) held a week long revival series featuring messages presented by Dr. Rollin Shoemaker of Andrews University (Mich.). The series culminated on April 4th, with a special evening concert given by members of Peterburg’s sister church, Richmond Brazilian Community Church (RBCC), as well as local members. The Spirit was working during the meetings and as a result, five baptisms took place in between performances.
Pastor Rick Dahlberg had the privilege of baptizing John Livesay, as he rededicated his life to the Lord. Pastor Jesse Nascimento, Petersburg and RBCC’s Pastor, in only one month, has endeared himself to the two congregations and had the honor of baptizing four additional souls. Meki Esera, rededicated his life through baptism and then watched as his two grandsons made their public stand for Jesus. His grandsons, Francisco and Kelly, have been studying for baptism with Joe McDaniel, Petersburg’s Head Elder, and attending RA Lewis church school under the leadership of Mrs. Starr Schwinn. They are also members of the newly established Pathfinders Club led by Jason and Annemarie Meyer. Robert “Bob” English was hired to fix a leak at RA Lewis church school, fell in love with the school and staff, fell in love with the message, and then made a decision to join the church. Bob has been a great blessing to the church, both with his handyman skills and commitment to service.
Overall, the revival series was a great success with almost 80 members from area SDA churches attending the final night. There is joy in heaven over five new souls!
