A contract with WAVA, a station with a potential listening audience of over 8 million in the DC metro area, and Sirius XM, a satellite stream with international reach, has recently been established for two programs to air with Evangelist Mark Finley, who is a member of the Living Hope church in Haymarket, Va. and who oversees the School of Evangelism there.
The half hour program airs four times a week and focuses primarily on prophecy and health. It also allows for Bible studies to be shared over the air as well as the ability to advertise upcoming events. Finley is working with the Voice of Prophecy to establish a local Bible School specifically for Bible interests that come from listeners in Northern Virginia.
“Pastor Michael Oxentenko, broadcaster for Reaching Your Heart, which has been airing on WAVA for 20 years, asked me if I’d like to meet Tom Moyer, the station’s general manager, to discuss the possibility of joining the WAVA family of programming,” says Finley. “Tom indicated that the station was looking for something solidly biblical, Christ-centered and filled with hope.”
After this initial meeting, Moyer sent a letter of invitation for Seventh-day Adventists to air programs on WAVA, Sirius XM 131 and become part of their international social media outreach.
“Finley and Oxentenko add to Salem’s representation of the broader Body of Christ for these times we live in,” said Moyer in a letter of invitation sent to the General Conference. “I’m asking the Seventh-day Adventist Church to prayerfully consider supporting this Bible teaching ministry partnership, strengthening the voice of Adventism in the Christian Body effort to reach the World with The Gospel.
