Pastor Jose A. Barrientos Jr., Potomac’s director for youth ministries, was ordained into the gospel ministry on July 30. Josant was born into a pastoral family (Pastor and Mrs. Jose and Ana Luz Barrientos) in San Benito, Texas USA. When he was a child, he and his family moved to work in El Salvador, Central America, where he grew up and had the opportunity to serve God in the communications field as a broadcaster and production manager in two Adventist Radio Stations in El Salvador and Costa Rica respectively.
Josant started his upper level education at the Seventh-day Adventist University in Alajuela, Costa Rica, Central America (UNADECA) and finished his education in Columbia Union College, now known as Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Maryland. In May 2007, he. earned his BA in Theology with emphasis in Metropolitan Ministry and a minor in Biblical languages. He continued his studies and on July 2011 graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from the same institution. Currently, he is completing his Master’s in Divinity from Andrews University, Michigan.
Throughout his ministry, Josant has had the privilege to serve as a teacher, Bible instructor, Children and Youth Pastor, as well as Associate Pastor. He worked in the Hispanic Churches of Aspen Hill and Culpeper and on January 2008, Pastor B. joined the pastoral staff of Community Praise Center in Alexandria, VA, where he served for six years. His passions are evangelism, Pathfinders, community service, children and youth ministries.
Josant is thankful to God for the infinite ways He has manifested His caring love throughout his life. He is grateful to God for his beautiful wife Claudya with whom he shares his love and dedication to the ministry. Also, he is very grateful for the wonderful parents and sister that God has given him. They have been an example of faithfulness, dependence, and dedication to God and His mission.
