At the beginning of the month, the city shut down the street directly in front of the Charlottesville Seventh-day Adventist Church (Va.) to hold a block party! Members saw this as a great way to get to know their neighbors so they joined the party with several activities. They contracted a petting zoo with live animals to come for the three hour event. They took advantage of the animal theme and built and ark and told the story of Noah to the neighborhood children, handed out free refreshments, had name lettering and sticker crafts and handed out literature about who they are. The event got local news coverage NBC29! An estimated 400-500 people were in attendance.
