Stanley Seventh-day Adventist School (Va.) is a little, growing mission school nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Operated as an outreach to the communities of Page County, Stanley School strives to create a safe haven for students and families to experience Jesus and His love.
“Every effort is made to accommodate applications, regardless of the family’s ability to pay tuition,” said principal, Melody Snider. “This means that the lion’s share of the budget, by necessity, comes directly from fundraising. Page, Shenandoah and Rockingham County residents value the work that is accomplished here in our little school, and come out in droves to support our apple butter sales, our music and car shows and our auctions.”
But, when ‘extra’ expenses come, such as ordering new By Design science curriculum, and updating the school’s science equipment, Snider says it’s time to get creative and look for new blessings from outside regular supporters.
To that end, last month Stanley School started a GoFundMe campaign, utilizing their website and Facebook accounts. Supporters of Adventist education and science enthusiasts from all across the United States have responded and, so far, the campaign has raised nearly $1000 in just four weeks.
“This represents the ability to purchase fully a quarter of the textbooks needed for the entire student body,” shares Snider. “We’re excited and humbled as God continues to watch over and bless our little school.”
