Random Acts of Kindness has been an ongoing theme at the Farmville (Va.) church. Using a practical, yet creative approach to evangelism, members have been increasing the church’s visibility in the community and building good will by passing out gift cards, flyers to upcoming events and literature, like Desire of Ages and Signs of the Times, to customers at local businesses.
“Farmville boasts of having two schools of higher learning, Longwood University and Hampden Sydney College,” explained Dan Daniels, communications secretary for the church. “We were so pleased with the enthusiasm of the young people we talked with at our first location, Sweet Frog Yogurt Shop. They were very receptive to the presentation of our literature and many were reading it as they ate. This was the group we wanted to target there.”
In the following weeks, church members moved on to Main Street Bowling, Subway and Kenny’s Health Food Emporium. “Each site brought a blessing,” said Daniels. “The on-site manager of Main Street Bowling expressed a sincere desire to become a part of our church family. At present, she and her family have no church connections here in Farmville. Another recipient said they would share the information with those they visit at the Veterans Hospital. We hope and pray that God will prevail upon the ones we connected with to search their soul and receive Jesus Our Lord, as their Savior.”
