Staunton, Virginia – To further opportunities to spread the gospel, the Potomac Conference has created a position for a Director for Media. As we operate in a high-tech, digital-media environment, we must use every tool available to reach today’s generation providing opportunities to use their talents in our mission to go Beyond the Walls and expand the Kingdom of God.
Richard Castillo will lead this new department. He brings to the role an extensive background in various forms of media. Castillo recently served as the Vice President of Integrated Marketing and Communications at Washington Adventist University. His previous jobs include Media Pastor at the Sligo Church and Communication Director at the Oklahoma Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. In addition to his work for the church, Castillo also managed a design and photography business in Oklahoma. He is also adept in graphic design, photography, videography, marketing, and corporate communications.
In his new role, Richard will oversee the strategic growth and development of all multi-media platforms that support and promote the conference’s priorities in alignment with the office of the president and coordination with the office of communications.
Potomac President Charles Tapp said, “Having worked with Richard in the past, I am confident that his unique skill set along with his passion for ministry will serve us well in our mission to grow healthy disciple-making churches. A visionary, Castillo will use his wide range of skills to highlight the various ways Potomac is moving Beyond the Walls. He will also serve as a consultant to our churches, schools, and other conference institutions as they work to build their media infrastructure.
“I’m excited to be working with Pastor Tapp again,” said Castillo. “I’ve experienced his visionary leadership first hand, and I look forward to building a bright future for media at the Potomac Conference.”
Castillo is married to Kara, a teacher at Takoma Adventist Preparatory School. They have two daughters, Makala and Maya.
Please welcome Richard’s return to the Potomac Conference family as he begins his new assignment on January 7, 2022.
