Dave has an extensive background in pastoral administration and a heart for ministry. Prior to joining the Potomac Conference, David held the positions of assistant treasurer and treasurer within the Minnesota Conference. He also served as senior pastor at Potomac's Damascus Grace Fellowship Church for ten years.
As a graduate of Southern College of Seventh-day Adventists, David received his B.B.A. in accounting in 1987 and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1989. He started his career at a major accounting firm in the Carolinas, serving as a public accountant from 1987 – 1992.
Mary Ann Sheffer

Mary Ann Sheffer, Undertreasurer
Mary Ann holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Columbia Union College. She has served the Potomac Conference for more than 25 years as Accountant, Assistant Treasurer and Undertreasurer. Her primary responsibilities include:
- Payroll coordinator
- Accounting and Financial Statements
- Manage accounts receivable
Mary Ann is married to Larry and they have two grown daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, ocean vacations, and travel to historical places.

Daryl Hevener, Conference Associate Treasurer
Daryl holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting from Southern College. He has served the denomination for over 20 years at Shenandoah Valley Academy and now at Potomac Conference. He has served his local church and school in various ways. Below are his primary responsibilities:
- Overseeing the A/P functions
- Overseeing the A/R functions of non-tithe dollars
- Handles Estates left to the Conference
- Oversees and maintains the accounting for the Annuity and Revocable Trust Funds
- Instrumental in procuring land and buildings for local churches and schools
- Facilitates churches and schools in getting loans for building and remodeling projects
Daryl is married to Tammy and they have two children. He enjoys sports and playing golf and spending time in Myrtle Beach.

Okemas Williams, Associate Treasurer & Head Auditor
Okemas is a graduate of Oakwood College(now Oakwood University) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. After graduating, he worked in the Hospitality Industry as a Night Auditor and later as Revenue Manger. Before joining the Potomac Conference in July 2010, he served as Business Intern and Accountant for the Southeastern Conference for over 3 years. Below are his primary responsibilities:
- Risk Manager for property insurance
- Auditing churches & schools within the Potomac Conference Territory
- Provide church accounting software support for Jewel
Okemas is married to Amanda and they have two children. He enjoys traveling, bowling, photography, and spending time with family and friends.

Luis Alferez, Assistant Treasurer
Luis holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and a MBA from Andrews University. He joined the Potomac Conference in June 2008. Luis has several years of experience working as a treasurer for his local church and three years as a staff accountant for the Netherlands Antilles Conference. Below are his primary responsibilities:
- Maintains the financial records for the Hispanic Ministries;
- Audits Metro DC Spanish churches; and,
- Provides church accounting software (JEWEL) technical support.
In his free time he enjoys the outdoors and running marathons.

Kanetha Peters, Staff Auditor
Graduated from OakwoodÂ UniversityÂ with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, She joined the Potomac Conference in September 2009. Below are her primary responsibilities:
- Auditing Potomac Conference churches in Maryland, D.C . and Virginia.
- Provide JEWEL resources and support.
Kanetha enjoys traveling, reading, trying new and different things as well as spending time with friends and family.

Charlene Sheffer, Administrative Assistant
Charlene received secretarial training at a local technical center and began working in the public sector just after high school. She has 30+ years of service at Potomac in the Education, Youth Ministries, and Treasury Departments.
Her primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting the VP for Finance with clerical duties and other departmental associates as needed.
- Receipting monthly church remittances.
- Data entry for payables.
- Coordinating the laptop computer program for pastors.
- Ordering office supplies and helping to support office equipment maintenance.
Charlene enjoys music and singing in groups, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and cats.

Kandyce Hallam, Payroll Specialist
Kandyce is a graduate of Pacific Union College with an AS in Landscaping. Kandyce worked at Auburn Adventist Academy for 14 years as Student Finance and Student Employment director before joining the Treasury team in September of 2009. Below are her primary responsibilities:
- Entering data
- Miscellaneous clerical tasks
Kandyce is married to Keith Hallam. They have one daughter, Korrine, and two sons, Kristofor and Kurtis. She enjoys being with her family, photography, and outdoor activities.
