2014 Camp Meeting Theme: His Invitation
Welcome from the Potomac Conference President, Bill Miller
This year’s theme, “His Invitation” is from the Bible text:
“Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
This scripture raises three obvious questions:
1. Who is the host sending the invitation?
2. Who all is invited to this celestial feast? And,
3. What will you do with the invitation?
The answers also come from scripture:
Who invited us? “He who loves us and freed us from our sins by His blood” (Rev 1:5).
Who is invited? “All are invited who have ‘washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb’” (Rev 7:14) – that is, those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord of their life.
We all get invitations -- birthday parties, business events, family reunions, alumni home-comings, weddings – at the end is an RSVP request, meaning “please respond.”
When you consider your RSVP answer to any of these invitations, you probably first check your calendar to see if there are conflicts, then ask others in your family if they want to accept, or maybe you simply decide you don’t want to go.
Some of us respond immediately, others wait until the last minute, and some simply forget…
Jesus, the Lamb has extended an invitation, an eternal invitation. What is your response? Will you accept?
